Job Summary

Aon is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Underwriter to join our team in a 12-month fixed-term contract. As an Assistant Underwriter, you will play a critical role in ensuring that individual risks are bound promptly and in accordance with the delegated underwriting authority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Underwriters in ensuring that individual risks are bound promptly and in accordance with the delegated underwriting authority.
  • Record risks on the Policy Administration System in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Meet agreed service standards to bind risks and ensure that the relevant policies are accurate and issued within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Delegated Authority from insurers.
  • Build excellent working relationships with the GBC teams.
  • Provide general assistance to the Underwriters.
  • Build excellent working relationships with supporting insurers.
  • Participate in regular insurer meetings to review progress of the facility.
  • Maintain a high level of technical knowledge and input into technical and commercial market intelligence.
  • Monitor and control of new and renewal business, including aggregate monitoring.
  • To act fully in compliance with FCA rules and guidelines and with Aon Policy.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in the London Insurance Market.
  • Well-developed influencing skills and the ability to achieve success through others.
  • Self-disciplined and organised.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills, capable of dealing with domestic and international clients, business stakeholders and external bodies.
  • Well-developed knowledge of FCA requirements and standards.
  • Enthusiastic team player with the ability to build and develop positive relationships and capable of negotiating reasons for change / plans to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to establish and maintain relationships with brokers and carriers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • High level of numeracy.
  • IT skills: Microsoft Excel and Word.
