This position presents a distinctive chance to contribute significantly within a healthcare environment, delivering a comprehensive security service around the clock across our various facilities.
Key Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this role include:
- Collaborating with broader Trust teams to prevent and mitigate criminal activities, responding to incidents of violence and aggression as necessary.
- Conducting thorough and effective patrols of the Trust's internal and external premises, ensuring safety and security.
- Offering assistance and guidance to patients, visitors, and staff members.
- Supporting high standards of patient care.
This is a full-time role, requiring participation in a rotating schedule that includes weekends and public holidays. Flexibility is essential to cover shifts for colleagues who are on leave or unwell.
Candidates should possess excellent communication and customer service skills, as the role involves regular interaction with a diverse range of individuals. A readiness to engage in training as required by legislation or the role is also crucial.
Previous experience in a similar capacity is advantageous.

Detailed Responsibilities
- Carry out regular security inspections of the Trust's grounds, buildings, and parking areas, providing assistance and acting as a visible deterrent to criminal and anti-social behavior.
- Implement de-escalation techniques as necessary, including the application of restraints as a last resort.
- Complete all relevant training to stay compliant with current and evolving regulations.
- Provide escort services for patients, visitors, and staff as needed.
- Monitor surveillance systems, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
- Assist in the investigation of incidents as directed by the Trust Security Lead.
- Check security equipment for faults or damage, performing basic repairs and reporting issues as necessary.
- Respond to emergencies, such as individuals trapped in lifts, offering reassurance and assistance.
- Utilize communication devices effectively to maintain operational efficiency.
- Perform additional departmental duties to support an effective healthcare service.
Qualifications
Essential
- A solid educational background with basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Desirable
- GCSE English and Maths at level 4 or equivalent.
- Familiarity with the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme.
- Ability to meet SIA licensing requirements.
