We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiology Specialist to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical services in Cardiology, with a specialist interest in Echocardiography.
Key Responsibilities- Provide outpatient clinic services, including weekly clinics and support for the Valve and Echocardiography Consultant of the Week rota.
- Diagnose patients referred to our trust and partner trusts, and provide continuing clinical responsibility for patients in their charge.
- Be flexible to provide a high-quality service for patients accessing the service, including emergency lists.
- Contribute to clinical governance activities, including clinical audit, clinical guideline and protocol development, and clinical risk management.
- Participate in clinical education and training, including teaching qualified clinical staff and medical students.
- Contribute to the management and development of the clinical service, ensuring a robust service is provided.
- Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise.
- On GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining CCT.
- BSE Accreditation in Transthoracic Echo (or equivalent).
- Comprehensive experience in Clinical Cardiology, including experience of transthoracic echo in elective and acute patients, and experience of advanced diagnostic echo techniques.
- Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team, with sound knowledge of clinical cardiology and Echocardiography.
- BSE Accreditation in Stress Echo +/- TOE +/- Congenital Heart Disease or similar.
- Higher degree relevant to heart valve disease (MD/PhD).
- Teaching experience, research experience with publication record, and leadership experience in the development of clinical services.
- Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English, and to build rapport, listen, persuade, and negotiate.
- Accountability, ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions, and exert appropriate authority.
- Interpersonal skills, empathy, understanding, listening skills, patience, and ability to work co-operatively with others.
- Ability to change and adapt, respond to changing circumstances, and cope with setbacks or pressure.
- Ability to work as part of a team, staff management experience, and finance knowledge.
