We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our Adult Learning Disabilities Service in Kent. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with colleagues from various disciplines to provide high-quality care to adults with learning disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders in adults with learning disabilities.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve communication and swallowing skills.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including community nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists, to ensure comprehensive care.
- Conduct home-based and community-based assessments and interventions, as well as office-based work.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of care plans.
- Registered Healthcare Professional with relevant professional body (HCPC, RCSLT).
- Degree in a health-related subject or willingness to complete a degree within 3 years of appointment.
- Experience of recent community/acute healthcare gained through education or work experience placement or previous employment.
- Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS.
- Knowledge of up to-date clinical practice.
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to organize own work, cope with change, and use own initiative.
- Ability to motivate and organize others to ensure best practice.
- Ability to work under pressure, be flexible, and adaptable.
