Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor

We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Advisor to join our dynamic team at Cranleigh STEM, Sustainability & SHEQ Recruitment. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who is passionate about health and safety and is looking to contribute to a safe and compliant work environment.

Job Summary:

The Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for overseeing health and safety processes across various projects. You will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with industry regulations and improving safety standards across all operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safe Systems of Work: Prepare and review Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), Task Briefing Sheets, COSHH assessments, and manual handling assessments.
  • Site Inspections: Perform regular site visits and inspections to monitor safety practices and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Stakeholder Guidance: Provide expert advice and practical solutions on health and safety issues to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Internal Audits: Conduct internal audits on the company's ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 management systems to ensure ongoing certification and compliance.
  • External Audits: Participate in external audits conducted by UKAS certification bodies and clients.
  • Incident Management: Develop action plans to prevent the recurrence of near misses, incidents, or accidents. Investigate and report on these events as necessary.
  • Subcontractor Audits: Audit and monitor subcontractor performance to ensure alignment with health and safety requirements.
  • Staff Mentoring: Provide guidance and mentoring to operatives, helping them to develop their skills and understanding of health and safety.
  • Reporting: Produce monthly health and safety performance reports, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (essential).
  • Experience: Previous experience in a Health & Safety advisory role, preferably within the rail or construction industry.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and guide at all levels. Analytical and proactive in identifying potential risks and implementing effective solutions.
