Your Role

We are in search of a part-time Lead Culinary Specialist who will oversee and deliver imaginative meals daily for both patients and staff at WQSEC. You will bring a passion for cooking and excel in an environment where individuals undergo life-altering assessments for epilepsy and treatment outcomes.

As the Lead Culinary Specialist, you will be instrumental in crafting nutritious, customized meals that align with patient dietary requirements, ensuring that each individual enjoys a positive dining experience. Your responsibilities will include managing catering supplies, conducting audits, and having the opportunity to creatively design menus that satisfy patients, leaving them feeling content. You will also be accountable for maintaining kitchen inventory, mentoring catering personnel, collaborating with the development manager on corporate events, and guaranteeing that customer service is upheld to the highest standards.

Working Schedule: This is a part-time position requiring work across 3 days within a 7-day period. Working hours will be from 10am to 6pm. A degree of flexibility is essential, as you will be expected to cover team members' annual leave and participate in organized corporate events to support the broader catering service and provide appetizing meals to individuals utilizing the centre's conference facilities.

What You Will Bring:

  • Creativity and a comprehensive understanding of food to effectively design and cater to individual dietary requirements.
  • Essential food hygiene certification, along with knowledge of Health & Safety and Infection Control.
  • Prior experience in mentoring and supporting staff.
  • Skills and experience in a similar culinary environment or at least 2 years of relevant experience in meal preparation and cooking.
  • Awareness of Environmental Health Standards.
  • Dependable and adaptable.
  • Outstanding communication and organizational abilities.
