Job Title: Chief Engineer - Hotel Operations

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chief Engineer to lead our engineering team and maintain the overall functionality and appearance of our hotel's facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management:
    • Supervise and mentor the engineering team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
    • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures for all hotel systems and equipment.
    • Coordinate with other departments to address and resolve any facility-related issues promptly.
  • Maintenance and Repairs:
    • Oversee and perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other hotel equipment.
    • Troubleshoot and repair any mechanical, electrical, or structural issues that arise.
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
  • Budgeting and Planning:
    • Prepare and manage the annual engineering budget, including forecasting and tracking expenses.
    • Evaluate and recommend improvements or upgrades to hotel systems and equipment to enhance efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure that all safety protocols and procedures are followed to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Guest Relations:
    • Address and resolve any maintenance-related guest complaints or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
    • Work with the front desk and other departments to minimize disruptions to guests during maintenance activities.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Develop and implement emergency response procedures for potential facility-related incidents.
    • Be available on-call for emergency repairs and situations as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in hotel engineering or facilities management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Familiarity with hotel management software and systems is a plus.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications in Health and Safety Management desirable.
  • Trade qualification or equivalent work experience.
