Role Overview
As an essential contributor to our operations, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and integrity of the DBFO Network. Your responsibilities will include conducting regular inspections and upkeep of bridges and minor structures, collaborating effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders across the network.
This position within Balfour Beatty Highways offers an exciting opportunity for a General Operative (Structures) as part of the Connect Plus Services (CPS) team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine assessments of small structures throughout the network.
- Carry out maintenance tasks on inspected structures that do not necessitate extensive planning, utilizing small plant machinery for which training will be provided.
- Oversee soft estate maintenance, including strimming and hedge trimming.
- Conduct inspections at heights as required.
- Capture and input data into our internal management systems.
- Adhere to a planned activity schedule, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Maintain diligent records of all work performed and tasks assigned.
Work Schedule
Our teams operate on various shifts, and this role will involve a combination of day and night shifts to align with project requirements. Flexibility is essential, and we are committed to providing support and necessary time off to manage work-life balance.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Technical Skills: Proficient in utilizing advanced IT tools to manage and update operational systems, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
- Professional Standards: Demonstrate a strong work ethic, consistently delivering high-quality results and showing dedication to team objectives.
- Certification: Possession of a valid CSCS Card is required.
- Small Project Management: Proven experience in overseeing and executing small-scale projects effectively.
- Safety Awareness: Familiarity with MEWPS and the use of access ladders, prioritizing safety and efficiency.
- Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to varying work hours, including night shifts, to meet project demands.
