INTRODUCTION TO OUR FINANCING DIVISION //
We are pleased to present an exceptional opportunity for a skilled, technically proficient, and engaging professional to join us as an Associate within our Financing Division, which is comprised of 19 partners and approximately 60 associates.
Recognized as a premier financing law firm, we represent both public and private corporations, financial institutions, sponsors, credit funds, governments, and sovereign entities. Our multi-disciplinary approach allows our attorneys to provide counsel on a diverse array of transactions.
The Financing Division encompasses several specialized areas, including:
- Banking (covering loan and acquisition financing, leasing, and asset financing)
- Debt Capital Markets (including eurobonds, convertible bonds, high yield bonds, hybrid bonds, private placements, and structured notes)
- Derivatives
- Securitisation & Structured Finance
- Infrastructure, Energy, and Natural Resources (including project financing)
- Restructuring & Insolvency
Each sub-area is led by dedicated Partner sub-stream Heads and supported by specialized Professional Support Lawyers (PSLs), serving as focal points for knowledge sharing, training, and business development initiatives, including client engagement and networking events. This structure is designed to provide flexibility for our lawyers to concentrate on practice areas that pique their interest while maintaining a comprehensive practice aligned with our multi-disciplinary approach.
We hold strong rankings across our practice areas and are particularly noted for our representation on the borrower side of transactions, including work for numerous leading corporations.
Our financing attorneys have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of financing transactions, with the expectation that each lawyer will work across at least two or three specialized areas. This broad exposure enables our financing attorneys to develop the versatility needed to navigate complex legal challenges and devise innovative structures and solutions tailored to our clients' requirements.
GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES
The majority of the work conducted within the Financing Division is of an international nature.
Many of our clients operate globally, and our domestic client base typically has significant international interests.
Our Best Friends network ensures that we and our clients have access to top-tier international legal counsel, allowing us to engage in a substantial volume of intriguing cross-border financing work.
English law frequently plays a central role in our matters, positioning us to effectively manage international advisors and integrate all components of the matter.
WHAT WE SEEK //
We are in search of a highly motivated and adaptable individual to join our Financing Division, focusing on our Securitisation and Structured Finance sub-area. While we expect the successful candidate to possess a solid foundation in general financing and to have experience with various financing products and transactions, the emphasis will be on securitisations, asset-backed financing, and structured finance transactions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES //
The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Providing counsel on securitisations, repackagings, and similar financing arrangements across all asset classes for a variety of market participants, including originators, arrangers, and investors
- Advising on a comprehensive range of derivative transactions and standard documentation
- Guiding the acquisition and financing of portfolios of performing and/or non-performing financial assets
- Advising financial institutions on high-value and complex significant risk transfer transactions
- Engaging in work on other financing arrangements as required by client demands
- Drafting, reviewing, and amending the legal and commercial aspects of all types of financing documentation
- Building professional relationships with clients and participating in business development initiatives
- Managing and supervising the work of others, including associates and trainees as necessary
While we do not expect candidates to have experience in all areas listed, a successful candidate should have a keen interest in securitisations and structured finance, with a willingness to develop expertise in these areas while also engaging in a broader range of work across the Financing Division. The successful candidate will benefit from access to our exceptional training and knowledge resources.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS //
Applicants for this position must possess:
- An appropriate level of post-qualification experience (anticipated between 2-4 years' PQE in a City, major regional, or leading international firm)
- Broad exposure to high-value and/or complex transactions with significant responsibility
- A desire to develop expertise across various financing practice areas
- The ability to draft, advise, and negotiate complex transactions
- Demonstrable legal and commercial acumen
- A strong academic background (equivalent to a high 2.1 degree or better) and exceptional analytical skills
- Excellent client relationship management skills
- Strong efficiency and transaction management capabilities
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually stimulating environment
- Resilience under pressure with the capacity to manage multiple deadlines
- Experience in complex negotiations
- A high level of professionalism and integrity, adhering to the highest standards of professional ethics
- Experience working in a diverse team while promoting an inclusive team culture
