Workshop Team Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Team Leader to join our team at Score Group. As a key member of our workshop operations, you will be responsible for managing a team of technicians and apprentices, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of valve repair and maintenance processes, with hands-on experience in a workshop setting. You will be able to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently, while also possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop, managing a team of technicians and apprentices.
- Coordinate all Work In Progress (WIP), delegating tasks and monitoring progress to ensure timely completion of valve/actuator turnaround.
- Lead the workshop, including weekends and 24-hour cover as required, to meet business demands.
- Liaise with other workshops to offer support where priorities dictate.
- Plan and coordinate departmental work in progress, including liaising with nightshift as applicable.
- Prepare for and attend production meetings, ensuring that status sheets are up to date.
- Provide technical support to all workshop personnel and make key decisions to facilitate repair of clients' equipment.
- Embrace continuous improvement exercises and strive to improve efficiency, profitability, quality, and delivery performance at all times.
- Ensure that Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and general housekeeping standards and discipline are maintained at all times.
- Assist the Project Engineer in ensuring all delivery performance targets are met.
- Assist in the investigation and close-out of departmental customer complaints or internal non-conformances and the implementation of any preventative measures resulting from the subsequent investigations.
- Responsible for performance management of team.
- Responsible for problem-solving of any problematic or high-profile valves going through the department to ensure contractual delivery dates are achieved and wasted resources minimized.
- Deal with day-to-day personnel issues, i.e., Timekeeping, Work Ethic, Grievances, Disciplinary issues, etc., for workshop personnel.
- Carry out client interface for general activities and/or high-profile work scopes where required.
- Provide assistance on various offshore/onshore installations as and when required.
- Responsible for the checking and approval of QA cards.
- Provide technical support as required for the compilation of Repair quotations.
- Completion of maintenance kits and management of database for all valves and associated equipment.
- Assist in compiling detailed reports of all testing activities and where necessary complete step-by-step reports on work carried out.
- Ensure all test logs are updated daily and kept as an accuracy log as required by KPIs set.
- Liaise with all 3rd-party suppliers/vendors as required to complete work scopes.
- Completion of any required documentation, including inter-company sheets, drawing office requests, transportation request, machine shop QA card, purchase requisition forms.
- Ensure all department equipment and tooling is maintained regularly and records are kept up to date.
- Mechanical Apprenticeship (or equivalent)
- Prior experience in supervising or managing a team within a workshop or industrial environment.
- Previous experience working with apprentices and supporting their development.
- Strong understanding of valve repair and maintenance processes, with hands-on experience in a workshop setting.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and guide team members.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety standards in an industrial setting.
