Role Responsibilities
This position will require collaboration across various healthcare facilities, ensuring the effective delivery of pharmacy services.
Our organization has made significant investments in Pharmacy Services, aimed at enhancing the utilization of medications in community settings while prioritizing the safety of both patients and staff.
As healthcare increasingly transitions to home and intermediate care environments, this role is crucial in shaping and organizing these services over the next several years. You will work closely with clinical and managerial teams to provide essential support for medication optimization during this transition.
Experience Requirements
While prior experience in a pharmacy setting is advantageous, it is not mandatory as comprehensive training will be provided.
Weekend Responsibilities
You will be expected to participate in our 7-day operational service, which includes assisting in the pharmacy reception area during weekends, managing prescription intake, and providing support to patients and staff.

Key Duties
- Assemble and distribute medications to various departments and external organizations.
- Manage stock control under supervision.
- Perform clerical and housekeeping tasks related to pharmacy operations.
- Ensure proper recycling and disposal of returned medications.
- Conduct visits to clinics, departments, or wards to assist with inventory management, unpacking, and assembling orders, as well as receiving medications from suppliers and completing audit tasks.

Job Responsibilities
- Supply medications to various departments and external agencies.
- Manage the recycling or destruction of returned medications.
- Order, issue, and receive medications while maintaining the pharmacy stock control system.
- Monitor expiration dates and ensure safe storage of medications, taking necessary actions when required.
- Assist in audits and surveys as directed by the line manager.
Planning and Organizational Duties
- Understand and implement relevant departmental standard operating procedures.
- Propose improvements to departmental procedures through line management when appropriate.
Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate professionally and accurately about medication availability to other staff, external departments, and patients.
- Participate in the training of student technicians, pre-registration pharmacists, and other relevant pharmacy team members.
Financial Responsibilities
- Handle cash and card prescription charges, issuing relevant receipts.
Human Resources Responsibilities
- Organize your own work schedule within the framework provided by your line manager.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, proactively managing risks in all actions. This includes assessing risks, taking appropriate actions, and reporting incidents and hazards.
- Ensure that known risks are communicated to line managers.
- Utilize Datix to record and review medication-related incidents, collaborating with managers to implement systems that prevent recurrence where possible.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy objects as needed.
- Proficient in English, demonstrating confidence and accuracy in communication.
Qualifications
- Basic qualifications in both Mathematics and English or equivalent experience in a similar role.
Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team or independently.
- Methodical approach to tasks.
