Standards Design Manager

As a Standards Design Manager at NatWest, you will play a vital role in driving a culture of risk awareness and recommending solutions to financial crime risk issues within the business. You will work closely with the business, products, and Risk function to identify, assess, and manage risks within agreed risk appetite, using the bank's risk framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain a robust risk governance framework in line with the operational risk handbook and conduct and compliance handbook.
  • Deliver relevant specialist risk activity to build credible and realistic plans to move and sustain a control environment certification rating with risk appetite.
  • Maintain and update standards in an agile way to respond to policy change, and internally initiated standards changes identified through thematic insights derived from BAU escalations, controls gaps or inadequacies, solution defects, and changing risk appetite.
  • Design new standards, including creating strategic standards for all financial crime risk typologies for bank-wide operational execution and assurance across the three lines of defence, that mitigate risk efficiently and effectively.
  • Lead and inspire a team of business and customer control partners to ensure team objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborate with business product owner teams to turn standards into artefacts for onward implementation into strategic solutions and operating procedures.
Requirements:
  • Good working knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) processes, systems, controls, and operating model.
  • Experience of reporting analysis to stakeholders.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience of successfully engaging with stakeholders to deliver initiatives.
  • Knowledge of financial crime processes, systems, policies, and regulations across multiple disciplines, specialising in AML or counter-terrorism financing, politically exposed people, and exits.
  • Experience of working within approved governance to ensure changes to existing documented procedures are compliant with policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and document business requirements.
