Position Overview

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our esteemed client in the Defence sector.

This is an on-site position.

Eligibility for UK Security clearance is required.

This role is offered on a contract basis.

Compensation is structured as follows: £49 per hour plus a daily per diem of £100 for locations beyond 30 miles, along with a £5 per hour retention bonus payable at the conclusion of the project. The work schedule consists of 66 hours per week, operating on a shift pattern of 11 days on followed by 3 days off.

The primary responsibility of the Quality Assurance Engineer is to establish and execute quality protocols across all site operations, including Installation, Commissioning, and Operations, in alignment with the overall project lifecycle.

The Quality Assurance Engineer will ensure that necessary activities, such as audits, are performed to assess the implementation of quality protocols and will report on these findings.

Additionally, the Quality Assurance Engineer will carry out specific tasks on behalf of the Quality department as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulating and executing site quality protocols.
  • Providing proactive support and guidance on all quality-related matters on site, including identifying risks and issues.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Defining and implementing quality requirements as part of the site induction and training processes.
  • Establishing effective communication channels with both Customers and Suppliers.
  • Creating and implementing suitable auditing processes related to site activities, both internally and externally.
  • Managing and resolving any site quality non-conformances or issues.
  • Reviewing and approving Supplier quality arrangements in accordance with project requirements.
  • Monitoring adherence to site quality protocols and escalating concerns to management as necessary.
  • Engaging with Customers to clarify their quality assurance, control, and inspection expectations.
  • Reviewing documentation related to inquiries, tenders, and contracts to identify any site-specific quality requirements.
  • Conducting quality planning, including the preparation of site quality documentation and drafting site-specific procedures and instructions, while considering health, safety, and environmental aspects.
  • Collaborating with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure understanding of quality and specification requirements.
  • Reviewing purchase requisitions and orders for quality input.
  • Participating in site/project meetings and contract review sessions.
  • Ensuring that requirements for site lifetime records are clearly defined and maintained throughout site activities.
  • Conducting supplier assessments.
  • Overseeing installation, testing, and commissioning activities in accordance with site Inspection & Test Plans.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of the Nuclear industry and relevant License Conditions.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulations and legislation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Customer quality requirements.
  • Proficient in ISO 9001 standards.
  • Understanding of site construction completion systems.
  • Knowledge of Configuration Management Practices.

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in Nuclear Construction Site Work.
  • Possession of a CSCS card.
  • Experience in drafting Inspection and Test Plans and construction check sheets.

  • Preferably qualified to HNC level or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Completion of auditor training.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations as required.
