Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Special Education

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Ad Warrior. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs in a secondary school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of teaching staff and senior managers to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching to pupils with special educational needs.
  • Support students with a range of significant and often complex SEND, including autism, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, speech, language, and communication needs, and those who exhibit challenging behavior.
  • Undertake specified work with individuals, groups, and whole classes under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.
  • Encourage the participation of pupils in the social and academic processes of the school and enable pupils to become more independent learners.
  • Undertake work/care/support programs to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, staff members, and other professional agencies to provide effective support.
  • Awareness of and work within school policies and procedures.
  • Support pupils in developing and implementing their own personal and social development.
  • Assist pupils with eating, dressing, hygiene, and personal care, as required, while encouraging independence.
  • Provide basic first aid, liaising with senior leaders, lead medical admin, and other qualified first aiders. If appropriate, refer to the health service in emergency cases.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding/child protection, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • Show a duty of care to pupils and staff and take appropriate action to comply with health and safety requirements at all times.
  • Be aware of and support difference and ensure that all pupils have access to opportunities to learn and develop.
