Position Summary
We are looking for a proficient Mechanical Design Engineer to enhance our engineering team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components across various applications. A strong foundation in engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing techniques is essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Development:
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo) to create innovative mechanical designs.
- Generate comprehensive drawings, specifications, and documentation for mechanical assemblies and components.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure designs align with project specifications and limitations.
- Support the DFMEA process and documentation planning.
Prototyping and Testing:
- Construct and evaluate prototypes to confirm design concepts.
- Prepare test plans and documentation for Design Verification Plans (DVP).
- Analyze test results and adjust designs to fulfill performance and safety criteria.
- Conduct failure analyses and implement necessary corrective measures.
Project Management:
- Oversee design projects from initial concept to production.
- Establish project timelines, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to deadlines.
- Communicate project updates and challenges to relevant stakeholders.
Manufacturing Support:
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams and external suppliers to ensure designs are feasible and cost-efficient.
- Assist in developing manufacturing processes and tooling.
- Provide technical assistance during the production phase.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement design enhancements to improve product performance, reduce costs, and increase reliability.
- Stay informed about the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all designs meet applicable industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
- Prepare and review engineering documentation for compliance and quality assurance.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred) or;
- An equivalent qualification combined with substantial relevant experience.
Experience:
- Extensive experience in mechanical design engineering.
- Demonstrated proficiency with CAD software and simulation tools.
- Experience in product development and lifecycle management.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
