Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Service Charge Accountant to join our team at Goodman Masson. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of service chargeable properties and ensuring that year-end reconciliations are completed according to RICS regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of service chargeable properties, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Financial Analysis: Prepare quarterly analysis of service charges in required format, maintaining standardized service charge codes within the system across all properties.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare annual service charge budgets, apportionments, and on-accounts calculations, reviewing leases to ensure correct apportionments are applied.
  • Reconciliation and Reporting: Prepare year-end service charge reconciliations, including invoice collation, analysis of income and expenditure, journals, and accruals, communicating variances to budget and statement of funds to internal management.
  • Communication and Liaison: Liaise with Asset Managers, Building Managers, External Management Agents, and respond to tenant queries in a timely manner.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Assist with general ledger maintenance and complete any other ad-hoc administrative tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Property Industry Knowledge: The person will join a small hard-working team and must be able to work closely with and communicate well to that team, having a thorough knowledge of the property business gained from either an agency or property investment company.
  • Technical Skills: Highly IT literate with excellent spreadsheet skills; knowledge of property management systems is essential, with Trace Tramps/Bluebox being an advantage.
  • Soft Skills: The jobholder needs to be able to work on their own initiative, be adaptable, with good organization skills, and be able to plan their workload and resolve problems efficiently.
