About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Bids / Proposals Engineer to prepare proposals for our electrical / controls engineering projects, primarily focusing on Automotive Body Shop Automation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate costs for technical solutions presented, including mechanical, electrical, and software aspects.
  • Collaborate with the Applications team to understand their scope of supply and develop optimal costs for their requirements.
  • Work with the strategic procurement team to identify and develop best costs for a given application from a broad supply base.
  • Conduct cost-based research and analysis in conjunction with stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate cost risks.
  • Manage the bid process from receipt of RFQ through to submission.
  • Ensure costs and proposal documents meet all internal Leidos processes and gateways.
  • Develop the proposal with key stakeholders.
  • Work as part of a bid team and adapt as needed to prioritize workload.

Requirements

  • Experience in preparing bids for Electrical / Controls Engineering work.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated.
  • Strong understanding of MS Office packages.
  • Ability to read CAD drawings.
  • Good technical literacy skills.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Electrical / Controls Engineering, preferably with experience in responding to RFQs and preparing proposals.
  • Ideal knowledge of manufacturing automation methods and processes.
  • Understanding of project costs, including design, management, manufacture, installation, and suppliers.
  • Ability to communicate with internal departments, such as engineering, on a technical level to review and agree on outcomes.
  • Ideal qualifications in an engineering subject, such as an apprenticeship or degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Software Engineering, but qualified through experience will also be considered.
