Bids and Proposals Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Bids and Proposals Engineer to join our team at Leidos Industrial Engineers Limited. As a key member of our Bids Team, you will be responsible for preparing proposals for our electrical and controls engineering projects, predominantly automotive body shop automation projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate costs for technical solutions presented - mechanical, electrical, and software.
  • Work with the Applications team to understand their scope of supply and develop the best costs for their requirements.
  • Collaborate with the strategic procurement team to develop best costs for a given application from a broad supply base.
  • Conduct cost-based research and analysis in concert with all stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate cost risks.
  • Manage the bid process from receipt of RFQ through to submission.
  • Ensure costs and proposal documents satisfy all internal Leidos processes and gateways.
  • Develop proposals with key stakeholders.
  • Work as part of a bid team and adapt as required to ensure workload is prioritized.
Requirements:
  • Experience in preparing bids for electrical and controls engineering work.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated.
  • Strong understanding of MS Office packages.
  • Ability to read CAD drawings.
  • Good technical literacy skills.
Experience:
  • Proven experience in electrical and controls engineering, preferably with some experience in responding to RFQs and preparing proposals.
  • Ideal knowledge of manufacturing automation methods and processes.
  • Understanding of project costs - design, management, manufacture, installation, and suppliers.
  • Ability to converse with other internal departments on a technical level to review and proceed to an agreed outcome.
  • Ideal qualification in an engineering subject, perhaps an apprenticeship or degree in mechanical, electrical, or software engineering, but qualified through experience will also be considered.
