SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity in a Primary School

We are seeking an experienced SEN teaching assistant to join our team at a primary school in Wallingford. The successful candidate will have a passion for working with children with special educational needs and a background in Autism support.

The role involves working 1:1 with a child in Reception who has an EHCP and requires someone who understands their needs. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, patient, and committed to their role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to a child with Autism in a 1:1 setting
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other support staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans
  • Assist with the child's daily routine and provide emotional support as needed
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers to ensure consistency and continuity of support
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Autism and other special educational needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting children with complex needs
  • Knowledge of Autism and its impact on learning and behavior
