About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant Apprentice. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and skills in a primary school setting while working towards a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support for Pupils
    • Supervise and provide individualized support to pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
    • Establish positive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs
    • Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
    • Encourage pupils to engage in learning activities and interact with others
    • Set high expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
    • Provide feedback to pupils on progress and achievement under the guidance of the teacher
    • Administer first aid as required (training provided)
  • Support for Teachers
    • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly, and supportive learning environment, in accordance with lesson plans
    • Use strategies to support pupils in achieving learning goals, in liaison with the teacher
    • Assist with planning and preparation of learning activities
    • Monitor pupils' responses to learning and accurately record achievement and progress as directed
    • Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils' achievement, progress, and problems
    • Promote good pupil behavior, dealing promptly with conflicts and incidents in line with established policy
    • Establish positive relationships with parents and carers
    • Provide administrative support, such as photocopying and filing
  • Support for the Curriculum
    • Work with groups of children in both indoor and outdoor learning areas on a daily basis
    • Undertake structured and agreed learning activities and teaching programs, adjusting activities according to pupil responses
    • Support the use of technology in learning activities and develop pupils' competence and independence in its use
    • Prepare, maintain, and use equipment and resources required to meet lesson plans and learning activities
  • Support for the School
    • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, confidentiality, and data protection
    • Be aware of and support diversity, ensuring all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
    • Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the school, demonstrating the school's values
    • Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
    • Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
    • Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
    • Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips, and out-of-school activities as required
