About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of our pharmacy service, working closely with our pharmacy team to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the ordering, receiving, and unpacking of pharmaceutical products from suppliers, ensuring compliance with Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and departmental SOPs.
  • Ensure that medicines are sourced in a timely manner, maintaining accurate records and communicating with the pharmacy team as necessary.
  • Act as second checker for the administration of Controlled Drugs by registered healthcare professionals, ensuring adherence to SOPs and departmental procedures.
  • Conduct regular stock checks, expiry date checks, and other monitoring procedures, such as logging fridge and ambient temperatures, and deal with any anomalies in accordance with GDP and departmental procedure.
  • Ensure high standards and accuracy of work, adhering to SOPs and departmental procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Undertake administration of weekly and monthly In Possession medication to patients, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with the pharmacy team, external regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders, as necessary, to ensure seamless delivery of pharmacy services.
Requirements
  • Previous experience of working within a pharmacy or healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and departmental SOPs.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and as part of a team, maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy stock control systems and experience of working with similar systems.
  • Competent in co-ordinating and completing day-to-day workload, with a strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
