Liverpool, Liverpool, United Kingdom Peel Ports Group Full time
Job Overview

Position - Urban Planning Manager

Are you looking for an opportunity to enhance your professional planning capabilities and advance your career? Do you have a passion for overseeing and facilitating a wide array of large-scale development initiatives across various regions? We are in search of a Planning Manager to contribute to our operations at Peel Ports Group, collaborating closely with a variety of internal and external partners.

Your Responsibilities

In this position, you will partner with the Group Planning Director to manage a diverse portfolio of planning-related tasks, working in conjunction with Port Directors and the Property and Project Teams to drive the execution of strategic business objectives across the organization. You will oversee all facets of the planning process for port-related projects, from initial discussions to the submission and successful approval of planning applications.

You will take the lead in developing Port Master Plans and associated studies/assessments while fostering effective stakeholder engagement. Additionally, you will assist Port Directors with all regulatory planning aspects of their operations, managing and supporting the submission of permitted development projects. You will also be responsible for drafting written responses to national and local planning policy consultations.

What You Will Bring

The ideal candidate will possess prior experience working with Local Planning Authorities and will hold (or be nearing completion of) a MRTPI qualification. You should have extensive experience in development management, coupled with a solid understanding of the planning application and EIA processes. As an effective communicator, you will be adept at presenting to both internal and external stakeholders and influencing decision-making.

Strong community and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with the ability to juggle multiple development projects simultaneously. Given the nature of this role, occasional travel to various sites within the organization across the UK may be required.

About Us

As one of the UK's foremost port and logistics companies, we are embarking on significant capital investments over the next several years to realize our vision of becoming the leading port operator in the UK. Our ambitious plans aim to enhance and transform the supply chain for the benefit of our customers. Our investments are focused on decarbonizing our operations, contributing to our goal of achieving Net Zero Port Operations by 2040. Much of our success is attributed to our unparalleled facilities and technology, but ultimately, it is our talented workforce that drives our growth.

What We Offer

Alongside a competitive salary, we have a proven track record of fostering the development of our employees, enhancing their skills and experiences to advance their careers. We value and reward our workforce, offering a comprehensive range of flexible benefits, including:

  • 27 Days Annual Leave (plus bank holidays)
  • Up to 10% Matched Contribution Pension
  • Flexible Benefits such as salary sacrifice car scheme, healthcare cash plans, Cycle2Work Scheme, Critical Illness insurance, Gym Membership Scheme, Retail Vouchers, and more
  • Commitment to learning and personal development, with over 50,000 hours of training and development supported last year
  • Promotion of good physical and mental health, with additional support available through our Employee Assistance Programme when needed

If you possess the skills and experience we are looking for, we would be eager to hear from you.
