We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Psychiatrist in HIV, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care to patients with complex mental health needs related to their HIV diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct psychiatric assessments and provide brief interventions to patients with mental health disorders associated with their HIV diagnosis.
- Liaise and consult with referrers, including the HIV clinical team, to ensure comprehensive care planning and risk management.
- Collaborate with the HIV mental health team to provide joint assessments and consultations, and to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Work closely with other psychiatric and mental health services within Sussex Partnership to support patients with complex difficulties.
- Contribute to the strategic development of mental health support for HIV patients and collaborate with the HIV mental health team psychologists in this effort.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
We welcome applications from candidates with:
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
- MRCPsych
- Additional clinical qualifications.
- Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
- Knowledge and experience of working with patients with complex trauma, knowledge and experience of substance use, knowledge and interest in HIV and how it might interact with mental health.
