Project Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team at Smart Sharp Recruitment. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering bespoke engineering solutions to customers on time, on budget, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, resource, and execute projects in line with internal processes and customer requirements.
  • Assist with proposals and project justification by gathering and reviewing preliminary information from stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement project management plans, including scope, tasks, milestones, deliverables, budget, stakeholders, risks, and key information.
  • Construct and maintain project schedules using a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), with milestones and review points clearly identified.
  • Monitor costs against the agreed budget, calculating cost-to-complete (CTC) and raising deviations with management in a timely manner.
  • Ensure comprehensive project requirements are produced, reviewed, and confirmed by stakeholders.
  • Manage project-related risks by identifying, documenting, assessing, and mitigating them where possible.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external gateway reviews, ensuring actions are recorded and completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with internal and external customer standards and procedures.
  • Deliver timely and thorough targeted communication to all stakeholders.
  • Undertake project closeout reviews to gather lessons learned for process improvements.

Requirements:

  • Proven project management expertise within an engineering environment.
  • Proven ability to deliver results through others in a matrix organization.
  • Proven experience of liaising directly with customers and delivering high levels of customer service.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, including work scheduling, prioritizing, and multi-tasking.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to work.
  • Problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
  • Education to degree level (BSc/BEng or equivalent) in Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • APMPMQ, PRINCE 2, or similar project management certification.
