Company Overview:
A prominent tooling manufacturer is seeking a strategically minded Safety and Compliance Manager to enhance their operations.

Role Overview:
The Safety and Compliance Manager will oversee three warehouses and assembly sites in Kettering, leading a team of two HSE Coordinators and managing a workforce of over 220 employees.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Safety and Compliance Manager, you will undertake a diverse range of responsibilities that require a comprehensive understanding of company policies, systems, and their applications.

Each task will present unique challenges that you will be expected to address effectively.

You will also be tasked with additional duties to ensure the smooth operation of your department.


Strategic and Regulatory Duties:
  • Formulate and execute a sustainable Quality, Environment, Health & Safety strategy for the organization.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant statutory regulations concerning Health & Safety and the Environment, while staying informed about future legislation and advising the business on potential impacts.
  • Create a risk register that encompasses all aspects of operational risk, presenting findings to the Senior Team quarterly.
  • Conduct accident investigations, including thorough root cause analyses, and support management and supervisory staff in their responsibilities regarding these investigations.
  • Engage with the Health & Safety Executive, reporting any incidents or occurrences as required by regulations.
  • Establish and maintain procedures for normal, abnormal, and emergency environmental situations using Environmental Aspects Assessment criteria.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Quality System, collaborating with relevant personnel to ensure consistent product quality and reporting developments to appropriate parties.
  • Lead a commitment to quality throughout the organization through support, education, and monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, including Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety, at all times.
  • Ensure accident investigations are conducted in accordance with Health & Safety Executive guidelines, recorded accurately, and that effective risk mitigation strategies are implemented based on findings.
  • Guarantee that all physical security measures and supporting policies are in place to maintain a secure working environment for employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Review and enhance a Facilities and Maintenance program to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion of capital expenditure projects.
  • Implement a planned maintenance schedule across all facilities.
  • Establish a fair and effective framework for supplier tenders for new or existing contracts.

Candidate Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess a background in the manufacturing sector as a Safety and Compliance Manager.

You should also have the following qualifications and experience:
  • A recognized Health and Safety qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ, NVQ Level 5, or equivalent.
  • Membership in IOSH and progress towards CMIOSH is preferred.
  • Experience managing integrated management systems for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, including internal audits.
  • A background in Warehousing, Logistics, Assembly, or Manufacturing is preferred.
  • A strategic focus on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).
