About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety and Security Domain Engineer to join our team at Gordon Murray Group. As a key member of our Electrical Department, you will be responsible for the development, integration, and validation of safety systems and security systems into our vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and integrate safety systems, including autonomous braking, adaptive cruise control, and airbag control systems, into our vehicle electrical architecture.
  • Collaborate with Functional Departments, technical partners, and Tier 1 suppliers to ensure compliance with functional safety, legislative, electrical, environmental, and EMC requirements.
  • Develop and maintain requirements specifications, timing plans, systems calibration, and validation requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance to EDS and Packaging teams to ensure correct location and packaging of control units and peripherals.
  • Manage system review, verification, and validation activities, including FMEAs, test planning, and functionality tests.
  • Represent the Electrical Department in status meetings and engineering reviews, and represent GMG in external working groups relating to ADAS in low-volume automotive.
  • Identify and resolve faults, manage issues to closure, and act as an authority for concessions.
  • Manage supplier relationships and coordinate with Procurement, Logistics, and Quality teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
  • Proven track record in safety and security systems development, engineering, or calibration within an automotive engineering environment.
  • Working knowledge of relevant ADAS standards, ISO26262, and EuroNCAP.
  • Demonstrable understanding of electrical architectures and underlying network and diagnostic technologies.
  • Working knowledge of CAN, FlexRay, automotive ethernet, LIN networks, and vehicle diagnostics.
  • Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma, or similar framework, and full product lifecycle activities.
  • Articulate, self-motivated, and able to work well on own initiative.
  • Possession of an Electronics, Control Systems, Automotive, or similar honours engineering degree, or other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience.
  • Full driving licence is essential.
  • No visa or other restrictions for working in the UK or travelling in the European Union.
