Job Opportunity: Tutor for Supported Internship Programme

Mencap is seeking a passionate and creative Tutor to join our Supported Internship programme. As a Tutor, you will play a vital role in helping young people with a learning disability, learning difficulty, and/or autism access the world of work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English and Maths by embedding them into lessons about employability
  • Teach further life skills that will have a direct impact on the way learners interact with their wider community
  • Deliver elements of teaching, learning, and assessment to learners, including accredited functional skills in both English and Mathematics

Requirements:

  • Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities
  • Experience of delivering against targets and working with a diverse group of learners
  • A-C/9-4 English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
  • Recognised teaching qualification at level 5 (DTLLS, PGCE, CertEd)
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering and assessing functional skills English and maths up to level 2
  • Experience & knowledge of safe working practices
  • Good classroom management skills and strategies
  • Good time management and planning skills
