We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Lead Radiographer specializing in the pretreatment phase of radiotherapy. This role demands a deep understanding of the radiotherapy process, coupled with clinical expertise to ensure exceptional patient care and safety standards. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in fostering effective communication, adhering to evidence-based practices, and mentoring team members across various aspects of the job.
The Lead Radiographer will oversee designated technical areas, ensuring that high standards are consistently met and efficient processes are implemented in radiotherapy. A structured approach to initiating new working methods will be expected.
Key Responsibilities
As the Lead Radiographer for planning CT and calculations, you will serve as the clinical specialist responsible for the pretreatment planning of cancer patients. You will manage a dedicated planning CT unit and a team of professionals, requiring extensive knowledge of pretreatment protocols, CT technology, and simulation techniques. Advanced clinical expertise in radiotherapy planning procedures, understanding of radiation tolerances, and awareness of physiological responses to radiation exposure are essential. Compliance with current legislation regarding ionising radiation is mandatory. You will be responsible for team management and student training, ensuring safe and efficient patient care while fostering team development. A high level of proficiency in complex technical and computerized systems is required.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
- Take the lead role in any planning CT machine or calculation area, coordinating all processes to meet targets across the radiotherapy pathway. Utilize specialist clinical knowledge to provide guidance and treatment in all aspects of radiotherapy.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the pretreatment segment of radiotherapy, including on-call responsibilities for emergency cases during weekends and holidays.
- Demonstrate expertise in performing complex manual and computerized calculations, verifying treatment plans, and analyzing patient pathway information to ensure accuracy and safety in accordance with Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations (IRMER).
