Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community Paediatric Consultant to join our enthusiastic and friendly paediatric department in Wigan. Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and managing children with neurodevelopmental difficulties, including ADHD, ASD, and learning difficulties. They will work closely with colleagues in community services, North West Boroughs NHS Healthcare Foundation Trust, education, and social care to provide comprehensive care to children and families.

The appointee will see patients in various outpatient settings, including Thomas Linacre, Leigh Infirmary, Platt Bridge, and special schools. They will also participate in visiting clinics in cardiology, rheumatology, neurology, nephrology, and urology by specialists from tertiary children's hospitals in the region.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • MB ChB or equivalent qualification
  • MRCPCH or equivalent qualification
  • CCT in Paediatrics (or within 6 months of obtaining from interview time)
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Evidence of L3 competencies in Community Child Health

Desirable criteria include further degree (MD/PhD), CCT in Community Child Health/Neurodisability, teaching skills and experience, ability to supervise clinical work, and oral and written communication skills in English.

Additional Requirements

The appointee will be required to:

  • Able to travel between sites to meet requirements of the post
  • Satisfactory medical clearance from Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Trusts Occupational Health Physician
  • Member of Medical Defence organisation
  • Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role
