Commercial Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager to join our team at Padstone Recruitment Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of our construction projects, ensuring effective financial and contractual control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collate and analyse monthly labour, material, plant, and subcontractor cost data to inform senior management cost reports.
  • Assist in reviewing proposed contracts, contractual arrangements, and contract documentation to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Administer subcontractor accounts to ensure timely management of costs from point of order through to payment.
  • Evaluate sub-contractor applications and raise payment certificates as required.
  • Support the Pre-Construction team by reviewing tender documentation and assessing commercial risk on projects.
  • Collaborate with Project Team members to provide commercial support and advice on contract administration issues.
Requirements:
  • Appropriate commercial and financial experience on a range of construction projects, both large and small.
  • Reasonable knowledge of mechanical and electrical installations in large buildings.
  • Experience of various types of contract and contractual frameworks.
  • Excellent literacy, numeric, and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering information.
  • Strong awareness of recognised commercial management processes used across the full time-line of any construction project.
  • Working understanding of procurement, stock management, health and safety best practice, and legislation.
