Highway Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary
The East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking a skilled professional to join its Highways Technical Service Group based at the Beverley Depot. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of all aspects of work within the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, the Traffic Management Act 2004, and associated regulations and Code of Practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and monitor Street Works in the highway to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Monitor the skip and scaffold licencing process to ensure efficient and safe operations.
- Assist the Coring team with the implementation of the Coring Program and the BDUK fibre installation program.
- Support winter services, including assisting with winter operations and providing technical expertise.
- Develop and maintain excellent IT skills to effectively manage and deliver projects.
Requirements
- Hold a qualification equivalent to ONC level or have suitable experience in a highway maintenance related discipline.
- Demonstrate significant experience of working in a similar role or in a customer-focused service delivery environment.
- Developed interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work as part of a team, being flexible and positive, and adapting to new situations or procedures.
- Ability to travel to outlying sites for inspections, with a mileage allowance payable.
