About the Position

We are excited to present an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned Senior Cost Manager to join our Rail division, where you will engage in significant projects that are vital to our operations and contribute to major infrastructure developments within the sector.

This role within our Rail Civils Project allows for collaboration with partner organizations throughout the rail sector. Responsibilities include overseeing various frameworks for infrastructure maintenance and upgrades, including but not limited to buildings, structures, bridges, drainage systems, earthworks, soil stabilization, emergency repairs, geotechnical projects, track renewals, depot enhancements, station upgrades, and associated schemes.

Our Rail Division is dedicated to positively influencing the UK rail landscape by leveraging the strengths of all collaborators and fostering teamwork. By combining expertise in critical rail infrastructure and track renewals, we implement innovative practices to achieve efficiencies and enhance the reliability of railway systems.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Cost Manager, your primary duties will include:

  • Ensuring compliance with the company's governance frameworks and operational standards.
  • Leading and developing a commercial team to facilitate project delivery.
  • Estimating, managing, and finalizing accounts for a variety of projects of differing scales and values.
  • Measuring, documenting, and valuing work performed in accordance with established protocols.
  • Identifying, gathering, and organizing pre and post-contract documentation, complemented by strong administrative skills.
  • Overseeing weekly and monthly work schedules; familiarization with various programming formats.
  • Utilizing the company's ERP and management systems for cost and value data collection, preparing cost reconciliation reports, and gathering information for procurement specifications.
  • Documenting and maintaining records, including interest registrations, understanding required documentation steps, and collaborating with subcontractors.
  • Maintaining a personal development plan while supporting the growth of team members.

Candidate Profile

The following qualifications or equivalent experience are essential:

  • A BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent professional experience.

The following attributes and experience are desirable:

  • A well-organized, innovative, and resourceful Senior Cost Manager with a proven track record in cost management.
  • Experience in financial oversight and commercial management within project environments.
  • Proficiency in procuring and managing supply chains while collaborating within larger commercial teams.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing team members.
  • Membership or progress towards relevant professional chartership.
  • A demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work efficiently, and maintain high standards in infrastructure projects, showcasing resilience and determination.
