Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Rail Site Manager (Cleaning) to join our team based at our client's site in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the effective operational delivery and facilitation of all cleaning services within the location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial management and control of overtime and stock within the location.
  • Collaboration with employees and stakeholders to implement new policies and processes, and to ensure buy-in and effective service delivery.
  • Leadership of the operational team to ensure delivery of high-quality cleaning services.
  • Regular reviews with the Senior Operations Manager to discuss performance, initiatives, and changes.
  • Liaison with supervisors, team leaders, and employees to ensure common service delivery standards and collaborative working.
  • Review and implementation of new initiatives, legislation, and other changes both internal and external.
  • Authorization of expenditure as agreed by the Account Director.
  • Monitoring of budgets and expenditure for the location, with recommendations for control improvements as necessary.
  • Provision of regular reports regarding the operation to the Senior Operations Manager.
  • Adherence to governance requirements, systems, and processes.
  • Proactive implementation of measures to address issues identified and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Interface with clients, service providers, and stakeholders to ensure expectations are met and additional services can be supported.
  • Attendance at meetings and conference calls relating to forthcoming engineering works.
  • Leadership of liaison with supervisors and teams to ensure the required staffing is in place to fulfill contract and service requirements.
  • Ownership and accountability for liaison with the Senior Health and Safety Manager, QSHE Advisor to ensure all RAs and MS are in place, and other requirements prior to delivery of works or services.
  • Ownership and accountability for liaison with the Training Manager to ensure all training requirements are in place and staff are suitably trained.
  • Completion of training documentation and records.
  • Ensuring all supervisors and employees are trained in absence management policies and procedures, and requesting support from the HR Business Partner if needed.
  • Carrying out investigations and HR processes.
  • Production of a detailed report on the completion of projects, highlighting lessons learned, recommendations, and implementation of required changes.
  • Accountability for the review of all cleaning tasks and processes to ensure efficient and effective delivery.
  • Maintenance of training and development across the location to ensure effective and safe delivery of services.
  • Ensuring all equipment is serviceable and fit for purpose, with defects reported in a timely manner.

About You:

  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
  • This position will involve weekend and bank holiday working.
  • A proven track record in cleaning service delivery.
  • Experience of implementing, reviewing, and achieving standards for safety, quality, time, and cost.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to operate and build credibility with employees.
  • Experience of leading and inspiring a team, which may be dispersed across a region.
  • Excellent diplomacy skills combined with the confidence and resilience to handle potential conflict situations.
  • Ability to resolve conflicting issues and priorities.
  • Outstanding knowledge and a demonstrable track record of expertise in the successful management of in-house teams at a local level.
  • A willingness to travel to sites across the contract region at short notice.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Flexible working attitude to accommodate contract requirements and changing business needs.
  • Good IT skills, including use of Word, Excel, and Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
  • The ability to use handheld devices, such as smart phones and tablets, effectively.
