Commercial Underwriter Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team at Pen Underwriting, a part of the Gallagher group. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting and servicing new and existing accounts, handling technical claim cover requests, and providing technical training and development to junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite and service new and existing accounts, ensuring a connected service to clients.
  • Handle technical claim cover requests and liaise with brokers, insurers, and other functions as required.
  • Provide technical training and development to junior team members.
  • Compile and provide statistics, interpreting data and explaining it to others.
  • Operate within the confines of the agreed personal delegated underwriting authority and utilize the company's preferred insurance pool.
Requirements:
  • Firm grasp of risk exposure and ability to determine acceptance criteria and risk classifications in complex situations.
  • Underwriting experience in servicing accounts, with specialist technical knowledge to handle claim queries.
  • Experience of planning and prioritizing client renewals and seeking new business opportunities.
