About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team at Pen Underwriting, a leading Managing General Agent (MGA) within the Gallagher group. As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a key role in evaluating new business, providing technical training and development to junior team members, and maintaining and growing a renewal portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate new business and provide sound judgement and industry knowledge to determine acceptance criteria and risk classifications.
  • Provide technical training and development to junior team members, sharing your expertise and knowledge to ensure they are equipped to handle complex situations.
  • Maintain and grow a renewal portfolio, handling rating and adjustment enquiries from clients and providing excellent customer service.
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of coverage provided by Pen and operate within the confines of your delegated underwriting authority.
  • Collaborate with brokers, insurers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and delivery of services.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter who possesses a strong understanding of risk exposure, underwriting principles, and commercial insurance. You will have a proven track record of success in servicing accounts, handling claim queries, and providing excellent customer service. You will also have excellent communication and social skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
