About the Quantity Surveyor Role

Fawkes & Reece is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial, Estimating and Buying team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering cost control and financial reporting duties across all aspects of construction work undertaken by the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Control and Financial Reporting: Attend design meetings to advise on cost implications, review contract drawings for errors and omissions, and prepare construction cost analysis.
  • Procurement and Contract Management: Assist in the preparation of tender lists, distribute design information packages, and place subcontractor orders.
  • Financial Analysis and Budgeting: Analyze quotations, prepare stage payment schedules, and finalize contract documentation.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with the Customer Service department on post-completion defects and provide cost advice where necessary.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Previous experience managing budgets on multiple volume housing developments from inception through to completion.
  • Skills: Thorough understanding of Surveying and Estimating, with a specific knowledge of preparing realistic construction budgets.
  • Education: Relevant qualification HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Microsoft Excel, and experience with procure to pay/cost reporting and document storage systems.
