Position Overview

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver expert subsidence and surveying services related to domestic and commercial insurance claims. The successful candidate will efficiently manage their workload to meet business objectives and adhere to defined service level agreements (SLAs).


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site visits to assess damaged properties, focusing on both technical and insurance-related aspects necessary for resolving claims and restoring properties.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to company policies and procedures while promoting fair treatment of customers.
  • Engage with clients, policyholders, local authorities, third parties, claims handlers, and colleagues as necessary.
  • Independently manage a portfolio of work within a designated regional area and provide assistance in other areas as needed.
  • This role is primarily home-based, requiring the maintenance of a suitable home office environment. Occasional visits to local company offices may be necessary. A company vehicle will be provided, and a valid driver's license is essential.
  • Receive targeted training specific to the role, which will necessitate a foundational understanding of: identifying damage causes and construction defects, assessing repair needs, and scheduling necessary building repair works.
  • Investigate and resolve subsidence and general peril insurance claims, including the instruction of temporary or emergency measures to ensure the safety of damaged properties.
  • Address building pathology issues, including those related to asbestos and dampness.
  • Possess knowledge of building insurance policies and relevant insurance legislation.
  • Prepare professional reports and other correspondence, including consultation documents.
  • Specify site investigations and interpret geotechnical reports, alongside understanding building construction and foundation systems.
  • Solicit competitive tenders, assess submissions, and provide recommendations.
  • Navigate Local Authority Planning & Building Regulations.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety Legislation & CDM Regulations.
  • Understand the Party Wall etc. Act.
  • Administer building contracts and related legal matters.

Project Management
  • Oversee building works on-site, including valuing and authorizing contractual payments and agreeing on variations.
  • Exhibit experience in cost control and financial awareness.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications, particularly the MS Office Suite.

Candidate Requirements
  • A degree in a relevant field, such as Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • Exceptional communication and numerical skills.
  • A strong understanding of customer service principles and quality assurance.
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
