Financial Controller – Temporary Position

ProLabs (UK) is a prominent global provider of compatible optical transceivers, operating under the Halo Technology Group, which employs approximately 400 individuals worldwide. Following the merger of ProLabs (UK) Ltd and AddOn Computer Peripherals LLC in 2017, the Halo Technology Group expanded with additional acquisitions in 2021, including Skylane Optics and Solid Optics / Alturna Networks. Currently, Halo Technology is a division of Amphenol Corporation, a publicly traded company with an annual turnover of around $13.0 billion.

As a leader in the third-party optical transceivers market, Halo Technology serves a diverse clientele from its operational hubs across the USA, Europe, and Asia.

We are seeking a qualified and driven Financial Controller to join our finance team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will oversee a team of two finance assistants, ensuring the efficient operation of the UK finance department, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and FRS 102. The role involves analyzing financial data and trends to provide valuable insights that support strategic business decisions and cost management.

This role will be based in our UK office and will report directly to the Group Financial Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes for the primary UK trading entity.
  • Oversee accounting operations and processes, ensuring that robust financial systems and procedures are established and followed.
  • Lead the audit of UK statutory accounts and the production of financial statements, ensuring adherence to UK GAAP and FRS 102.
  • Monitor departmental expenditures monthly to assist in budget control.
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts for the EMEA region, along with monthly variance analysis comparing actuals to budget.
  • Compile information for UK corporation tax returns and assist in preparing forecasts for quarterly tax obligations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Amphenol corporate policies and reporting requirements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Review monthly payroll and coordinate with the HR Manager to ensure timely salary payments and compliance with employer-related tax obligations.
  • Oversee the annual submission of payroll returns and review relevant documentation.
  • Prepare and review all necessary VAT, Intrastat, and EC sales list reports.
  • Manage the preparation and review of the monthly payment run.

Additional Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a secondary review of monthly payroll.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting, which may include due diligence assignments.

Required Skills:

  • Qualified Accountant (preferably ACA or ACCA).
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret data and trends to provide meaningful insights.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Maintain professionalism and a courteous demeanor at all times.
