Head of Compliance/MLRO Job Description

LMA Recruitment is partnering with a well-established bank to fill a Head of Compliance and MLRO position. As the Head of Compliance, you will be responsible for designing and implementing policies and strategies to ensure the bank's compliance with regulatory requirements. You will also be responsible for overseeing the bank's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with evolving statutory and regulatory obligations.
  • Conduct annual risk assessments and map mitigating controls to ensure the bank's AML/CTF framework is effective.
  • Oversight of First Line of Defense (1LoD) procedures and monitoring programmes to identify and analyse unusual transactions.
  • Receive and assess internal Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and report to the National Crime Agency (NCA) as required.
  • Act as the bank's point of contact with regulatory, law enforcement, and investigatory agencies on AML matters.
Personal Specifications:
  • Must have held SMF16 or SMF17 or CF10/CF11.
  • At least 8 or 10+ years experience as an MLRO and head of compliance.
  • Banking experience preferred.
  • Current regulatory experience and knowledge including AML laws.
  • Financial crime background and experience preferred.
  • 2nd LoD preferred.
  • Retail Banking and financial services experience.
