Job Overview

The role of the Mechanical Commissioning Engineer is crucial within the nuclear sector, focusing on the successful execution of commissioning tasks while adhering to safety protocols and project requirements.

Location: Seascale, Cumbria
Rate: £47.61 per hour Umbrella inside IR35
Contract Duration: 12 Month contract, Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the planning and execution of commissioning tests, ensuring safety and compliance with established standards.
  • Implement the commissioning strategy and deliverables efficiently and within budget.
  • Maintain a strong emphasis on safety across all operations, including nuclear, radiological, and environmental considerations.
  • Monitor and assess commissioning progress, making necessary adjustments to enhance performance.
  • Facilitate communication with team members to secure required approvals and reduce project disruptions.
  • Analyze and validate commissioning test outcomes.
  • Coordinate with various project processes, including design and risk management, to ensure cohesive project execution.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience in commissioning mechanical systems within the nuclear industry.
  • Minimum educational requirement: HNC/HND in an Engineering-related discipline or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated expertise in nuclear commissioning processes.
  • Familiarity with project management principles; APM membership is advantageous.
  • Strong proficiency in utilizing Excel for calculations and data analysis.
Security Clearance Requirements
  • Must possess the ability to obtain BPSS and P4 Pass for continued employment in this position.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in the latest versions of Microsoft Office software.
