About the Opportunity

The Commissioning Engineer plays a crucial role in the successful delivery of the Box Encapsulation Plant project at Sellafield Site. This project is a vital part of Sellafield's 100-year clean-up programme, and the Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the plant is designed and delivered to meet the requirements of the contract.

The Commissioning Engineer will work closely with the Commissioning Team Leader to undertake delivery of assigned commissioning tasks in a safe and effective manner. This will involve controlling, witnessing, recording, and assessing the results of commissioning tests, as well as ensuring a proactive and balanced approach to safety.

The ideal candidate will have experience in nuclear mechanical systems commissioning and a strong understanding of project management principles. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with personnel to obtain necessary permissions and minimize impact to the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execution of commissioning tests and ensuring safety is optimized during commissioning
  • Delivering commissioning work scope to an agreed strategy and plan in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Reviewing commissioning progress and performance and taking corrective actions where necessary
  • Managing day-to-day liaison with personnel to obtain necessary permissions and minimize impact to the project
  • Review of commissioning test results

Requirements:

  • Nuclear mechanical systems commissioning experience
  • Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering-related subject or equivalent
  • Experience in nuclear commissioning
  • Project management knowledge, preferably APM member
  • Calculation production using Excel
  • Security Clearance - ability to obtain BPSS and P4 Pass
