Position Overview

The Lead Nurse for Cardiac Rehabilitation Services is a pivotal role within our esteemed multidisciplinary team dedicated to cardiac care. This position is classified under Band 8a and is integral to the ongoing success of our Cardiac Rehabilitation Service.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced advanced practitioner to take on this rewarding position. The successful candidate will possess a diverse and specialized skill set essential for delivering expert clinical practice and driving strategic service enhancements. Responsibilities will also encompass education, training, research, evaluation, leadership, and consultancy.

Our team collaborates closely with local educational institutions, contributing to both undergraduate and postgraduate training, as well as engaging in audit and research initiatives. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and supportive leader who is committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with cardiac conditions.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Nurse will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the delivery of a high-quality cardiac rehabilitation service.
  • Managing the rehabilitation process for individuals affected by cardiac events and diagnoses through advanced clinical nursing practice and effective caseload management.
  • Providing leadership and management to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Team.
  • Engaging in educational and professional activities that align with corporate objectives and national guidelines.
  • Maximizing the quality and duration of life for patients with serious cardiac conditions, while also supporting their families and caregivers in their journey towards independence and self-management.
  • Contributing to local, regional, and national networks to promote effective cardiac rehabilitation practices.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • NMC registered nurse with a post-registration qualification in a relevant area.
  • Extensive knowledge of the needs of patients and families requiring cardiac rehabilitation services.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in change management and project leadership.
  • Highly specialized clinical skills for patient assessment and care delivery.

Desirable:

  • Experience in community nursing and managing long-term conditions.
  • Background in NHS operations.
  • Experience presenting at professional conferences and educational meetings.
