Director of Project Operations - LNG Sector

KBR, Inc. operates through two primary divisions - Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) and Government Solutions (GS). This position is part of STS within the Integrated Solutions business unit, which focuses on engineering and project delivery services encompassing front-end and detailed engineering, procurement, construction services, and program management, particularly in the hydrocarbons and energy transition sectors.

KBR is seeking a Director of Project Operations - LNG Sector.

The ideal candidate will oversee the technical and commercial execution of projects within KBR's LNG Project Portfolio. Reporting directly to the Director of Projects, the role involves delivering FEED and Detailed Design projects throughout the LNG value chain.

The successful applicant will possess a proven history of technical and commercial roles in LNG projects, ideally in both greenfield and brownfield settings. Typical responsibilities will include leadership roles on significant projects (such as detailed design or grassroots FEED) or managing a portfolio of smaller projects across various clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring safe project execution that meets client expectations while adhering to cost, schedule, and contractual obligations, with a focus on financial success.
  • Delivering anticipated outcomes regarding financial performance, health, safety, and environmental standards, client satisfaction, budget adherence, and schedule compliance.
  • Acting as the primary liaison between the client and the company, fostering strong working relationships.
  • Building and maintaining project delivery teams across diverse locations and time zones.
  • Assisting in the pursuit of new business opportunities through client interactions, presentations, and proposal development.
  • Ensuring project execution aligns with company-approved policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.
  • Managing project risks to prevent delays and protect the company's reputation.
  • Accountability for the financial performance of projects.
  • Providing regular updates on project status and forecasts.
  • Identifying resource needs and coordinating with resource managers.
  • Overseeing the execution of individual projects or a broader portfolio across multiple clients.
  • Planning project execution and maintaining adherence to the plan, keeping both the client and the company informed of project progress.
  • Training, developing, and mentoring the next generation of LNG project professionals.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Strong understanding of environmental and sustainability challenges, particularly related to the LNG supply chain and decarbonization opportunities.
  • Proven experience in shaping and leading delivery teams.
  • Knowledge of the C3MR process and ideally familiarity with various LNG process technologies and licensors.
  • Senior professional with a strong personal drive and credibility among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence and lead a diverse team across multiple projects.
  • Experience working with construction subcontractors, including engagement, evaluation, and execution management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery across various global locations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing project priorities while delivering high-quality work within deadlines.
  • Monitoring and reporting on progress and addressing key technical issues.
  • Managing progress against schedules, including Earned Value reporting.
  • Implementing necessary technical corrective actions based on lessons learned.
  • Focusing on internal changes as well as changes to KBR's scope.
  • Administering contracts, including change orders and risk management.
  • Ability to navigate client relationships to resolve issues, including conflicting demands and sensitive situations.
  • Adhering to KBR's Code of Business Conduct and ethical standards.
  • Typically acquired skills through completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering and possession of a Professional Engineering qualification and/or project management certification (e.g., PMP or AMP).
  • Engagement and influencing capabilities, with the ability to earn the trust of senior management and multidisciplinary peers.
