As a Financial Assistant, your primary responsibilities will encompass:
- Management of Purchase Ledger: Overseeing purchase orders, processing invoices, coordinating supplier payment runs, handling payments via Sage, managing credit card statements, and employee reimbursements, reconciling supplier accounts, and confirming balances with affiliated companies at the end of each quarter.
- Oversight of Sales Ledger: Generating sales invoices, conducting credit control, acquiring customer purchase orders for support tasks, and reconciling balances with sister companies at quarter-end.
- Bank Transactions: Processing receipts and payments in Sage, uploading sales invoices to the group-wide payment system, and reconciling purchase invoices from sister companies weekly.
- Month-End Procedures: Preparing nominal journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reporting and Analysis: Conducting group and other ad hoc reporting, along with Excel analysis.
- Year-End Preparation: Compiling information for annual accounts and audits, liaising with auditors, and addressing inquiries.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensuring all processing aligns with VAT, corporation tax, and other regulatory requirements.
- Finance Support: Providing first-line assistance on the Finance inbox, directing inquiries to the appropriate channels.
To excel in the role of Financial Assistant, candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Extensive experience in accounting.
- AAT qualification is preferred, with early stages of ACCA/CIMA being advantageous.
Additional qualities include:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
- Proficient in IT with experience in relevant systems and strong Excel capabilities.
- Articulate, inquisitive, and commercially aware.
- A solid educational background.
