Job Title: Graduate Safety Risk Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Graduate Safety Risk Management Specialist to join our team at Just Group. As a key member of our Enterprise Risk team, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining an appropriate risk management framework, and supporting its implementation across the Chief Risk Officer's organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of the Enterprise Risk team to provide increasingly effective challenge to the business, encouraging high standards of controls and proactive management of risk events.
  • Provide trusted advice to the Director of Enterprise Risk, the Group Chief Risk Officer, Executives and senior management on implications of operational risk in the wider business context.
  • Act as senior business partner to those parts of the business assigned to you, including the attendance and support of Senior Management Team (SMT) meetings and associated risk reporting for those parts of the business and associated Group entities.
  • Provide pro-active operational risk advice, support and challenge to Line 1 management across the business, with a particular focus on oversight of management of the risks associated with change initiatives.
  • Support the delivery of the Group's Internal Model for Operational Risk through the development and maintenance of operational risk scenarios with risk owners and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure that you and the business partners that you support are proficient in the use of the Group's risk management database (SWORD) and in supporting the business in the identification, assessment and reporting of risks at departmental level.
  • Build a working relationship with Wolters Kluwer, the suppliers of SWORD, and ensure that you are sufficiently aware of its functionality to propose and oversee improvements as required.
  • Support the development of your direct reports in the development of their skills, knowledge and awareness.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring you comply with the company's procedures, policies, guidelines and reporting requirements as well as any relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.
Requirements:
  • Proven track record of practical experience of implementing and/or operating risk management processes.
  • Significant breadth of experience and knowledge of life and pensions/ Financial Services.
  • Experience of risk support in change and implementation of large transformation initiatives.
  • Commercially aware and committed to internal and external customer service.
  • Proven record of building strong internal partnerships within businesses.
  • Externally recognised risk management qualification.
  • Other externally recognised specialised risk management qualification.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and knowledge.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including influencing, negotiation, presentation and report writing.
  • Strong understanding of risk management practices and their application, including operational risk.
  • Ability to identify emerging risk issues and to drive understanding and management.
  • Good understanding of regulatory context for operation of risk management, including Solvency 2 requirements and PRA expectations.
  • High level understanding of financial risk and capital management principles and techniques.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking ability, able to interpret information from a number of sources and draw together the 'big picture' and bring a strategic perspective.
