About the Role

Roke is seeking a highly skilled IT Operations Specialist to join our team in Gloucester. As an AV Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a critical role in providing operational support and ensuring the stability and reliability of our IT environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Support: Provide incident resolution, change implementation, and maintenance activities to ensure a stable and reliable environment.
  • Technical Request Implementation: Implement approved technical requests from end customers.
  • Environment Development: Develop and implement improvements to operational and reference platform environments.
  • Automation and Productivity: Implement automation to improve productivity and remove human error.
  • Documentation: Produce clear and concise documentation.
  • Stakeholder Management: Support the Tech Lead with active management of the environments and escalation of any risks.
  • Proactive Monitoring: Proactively monitor to stay ahead of potential issues.
  • Service Reporting: Support and participate in stakeholder management, service reporting, and reviews with Roke SDM and customer stakeholders.
  • ITIL4 Practices: Embrace and adapt ITIL4 practices for an agile platform operation delivery and operations environment.
  • Service Operation: Develop and maintain service operation according to customer and Roke policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Change Execution: Execute agreed changes to service provision, configuration items, and documentation.
Requirements
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience managing IT operations in a complex, fast-paced, highly regulated environment, preferably aligned to national security or defence.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience in some or all of the following technologies: VMWare Suite (ESXi, vCenter, and NSX/VCF), Windows System Administration (AD, DNS, DHCP, PKI), Linux System Administration, Backup solutions such as Veeam, Docker, and/or Kubernetes, and Nagios.
  • Networking Awareness: Awareness of Networking Technologies.
  • Cyber Security Awareness: Awareness of Cyber Security principles.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
  • ITIL Framework: Familiarity with the ITIL framework and (ideally) experience of working closely with DevOps product teams, particularly in the public sector and National Security landscape.
  • Software Development Practices: Familiarity with software development practices and tools used by software developers.
