Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional and social support to children and young people, building meaningful relationships and encouraging their interaction with peers and adults within the community.
  • Enhance self-esteem and respect by helping each young person develop a positive self-image and ensuring they feel respected and valued.
  • Promote positive life choices and independence by supporting the children in making positive decisions and achieving levels of independence appropriate to their age and abilities.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of events, observations, progress, child protection matters, and health and safety checks.
  • Collaborate with the manager and other professionals to create, implement, and review individual care plans based on the children's needs.
  • Work closely with the health advisor, social workers, therapists, teachers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care for each child.
  • Facilitate supervised contacts with the young people's families as necessary.
  • Assist the children with their daily living needs in accordance with their care plans.
  • Conduct household tasks and involve the children when appropriate, including planning, shopping, and preparing meals to ensure a varied and balanced diet.
  • Take lead on each shift to ensure the standard and quality of care we deliver is to a high level.
Requirements
  • Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Residential Child Care.
  • Previous experience in a similar residential care role.
  • Ability to work 24-hour shifts as per the shift pattern.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and understanding approach.
  • Strong record-keeping and organizational abilities.
  • Dedication to promoting the welfare and development of children and young people.
