Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a qualified and experienced individual to become part of our team as an Administrative Supervisor for the Adult Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) department at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. This role encompasses the management and enhancement of our administrative functions while engaging in quality assurance initiatives.

We pride ourselves on delivering a superior service to patients facing swallowing and communication challenges. We seek a dedicated professional who can facilitate the effective delivery of our services while prioritizing patient experience.

Our department is dynamic, comprising a team of innovative and approachable Speech and Language Therapists, Assistants, and Administrative staff. The successful candidate will benefit from ongoing training opportunities, including in-service education and regular supervision from the Team Lead. Additionally, you will oversee the administrative team, providing guidance and support to our junior staff members.

We conduct regular administrative meetings and team discussions, ensuring that all staff members can contribute to service updates and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

To excel in this role, you will need to possess the skills necessary to:

  • Manage patient appointment scheduling and handle incoming referrals to assist with triage processes.
  • Update clinical databases and systems as required.
  • Process orders for supplies and oversee deliveries.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, referrers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Manage the SLT email inbox and address general inquiries.
  • Conduct regular audits related to patient wait times and other service metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow administrative staff to share daily responsibilities and prioritize tasks.
  • Provide supervision and management for administrative personnel, ensuring adherence to quality standards and processes.
  • Facilitate communication with clinical leads to align administrative functions with clinical priorities, fostering opportunities for service development.

The position will primarily be based in our administrative office, with occasional requirements to work from other locations as needed.
