About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Speech Therapist to join our team at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust. As a Specialist Speech Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing specialist speech and language therapy services to individuals with learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist speech and language therapy assessments and interventions for individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Conduct assessments and provide recommendations for communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop and implement group and individual therapy programs to improve communication and swallowing skills.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to individuals with learning disabilities.
Requirements
  • Post-registration experience in speech and language therapy, including experience working with individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development in speech and language therapy.
  • Supervision of staff and/or students.
  • Leadership/first-line management experience.
  • Experience working in a range of learning disability settings.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
  • Postgraduate training in dysphagia or ability to complete training within 2 years.
  • Evidence of ongoing training and relevant postgraduate courses in communication and dysphagia.
  • Postgraduate training relevant to learning disability.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Registration with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
