The Role

We are seeking a skilled Machine Shop Technician to join our team at Progress Rail's South Queensferry site. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our machine shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and tidy working environment, adhering to company and legislative requirements.
  • Operate within our Company Quality Assurance System, identifying opportunities for improvement and contributing to process development.
  • Solve production problems and continuously improve processes to achieve business objectives.
  • Structure and prioritize work to achieve business and personal objectives, working within Health, Safety & Environmental procedures.
  • Ensure accurate use of Time & Attendance systems and respond professionally to customer needs.
  • Reduce incident rates and Non-Conforming errors within the team.
  • Maintain plant and equipment safely and fit for purpose, reporting and resolving defects.
  • Be willing to learn and adapt to other production areas.
Requirements
  • Maths-based mechanical aptitude.
  • Results-focused with a team player attitude.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive and autonomous when required, with good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure to deadlines and targets.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
  • Flexible and willing to work additional hours where reasonably required.
